Product DescriptionBecause of its simple "knee-knocker" mechanism, this Hands Free Gate can do exactly what the name implies: be opened without having to use your hands. Any parent occupied with little ones and all of their necessities will quickly recognize this as a huge benefit. To operate, simply press on the pedal with your toes and then bump the knee plate with your knee. Closing is just a nudge in the opposite direction; you will hear a click when the latch has caught, offering peace of mind that it’s secure again.
Before you buy, there are two things to be aware of. One, the actual opening for parents, kids, and/or pets to walk through is only about 18 inches wide. Two, if you want to use this in a doorway and be able to close the door, the foot pedal sticks out too far to allow this. For use with children up to 24 months. Product Features* Foot-pedal operated* Gate swings open in both directions * Gate will fit openings up to 39" with one extension kit and 44" with two extension kits (sold separately) * Pressure-mounted design that won't mar walls or doorways * This gate is not intended for use at the top of stairs Accessories
Customer ReviewsRated Very nice sturdy gate, pressure mounted, easy to install looks and works great. As long as you install it to a flat surface like a doorway or a hallway. I do not recomment it for using as a stair gate. I purchased two of them to install on our stairway however, hands free paddle does not work well on stairways. I would have kept the gate if itwasnt hands free, which initially I though was a good idea. Rated I got the gates to keep our puppy out of our rooms. For a couple months we kept all the doors closed, and the house felt dark and blah. I feel like I have my house back. The doors were very easy to instal, are simple to open without using your hands, and safe for my puppy. My niece was over (about 35 lbs) and she couldnt open them either, so if I ever have kids ill use them again! Rated We've been using this gate for about 5 months. We've got two large dogs and one very mobile 14 month old, and this has kept all three where they're supposed to be. It's easy enough to install that it goes to Grandma's with no problem. Only issue is that after constant use, the spring in the release step seems to be acting up a little and it's a bit harder to open, but this is definitely worth the price. The door is secure when closed, and there's no way a precocious toddler is getting through there. We are very happy with this gate. Rated We've been very pleased with these gates. We originally had the Summer Infant extra tall gates, but replaced them with these. The Summer Infant gates can be opened by crawling babies, so as an infant gate they are an epic fail. These First Years Hands Free Gates, however, work very well. They really are secure, and much more convenient for adults to open and close by stepping on a pedal. It's actually nice that they don't close automatically, because we leave them open when the babies are asleep or when we're carrying groceries or laundry. The only design flaw is the width of the gate. Look at the picture. There's the gate, then there are two bars between the gate and the wall. Why? I sure would like to have those six wasted inches applied to widening the gate. Then I could get the laundry basket through it instead of over it. Especially handy when you prefer not to pitch down the stairs. Rated This is by far one of the best investments we've made since having a baby. This gate was super easy to install, and is very sturdy. I really like that this gate is pressure mounted, so when we need to take them down, there will be no holes to fill in the walls. The foot pedal that releases the gate is very easy for adults to use (once you know that you have to push on it like you mean it!), but not too easy as you wouldn't want any escapees! We also have two small dogs (Yorkie and Shih Tzu) and it holds them where they're supposed to be as well. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this gate. If we ever decide to gate off another doorway, we will definitely buy another one of these! Similar Products
